Who can answer this one for me?
Whe I go to bed at night I also put my computer to bed as well, just recently when I start the machine back up again the first screen has my name which I click onto to start the whole process kicking in.
That very first screen always tells me how many e-mails I have waiting for me and this is the problem, lately it is saying I have 31 unread messages waiting for me?? Obviously at first I thought OMG who has gone mad with the e-mails, but now I know that if anything I may have 2 or 3 waiting for me.
Can anybody shed any light on this problem?
I am running XP (as Mark knows) on a Dell computer.

Hi Dot,
this is a classic Microsoft misnomer. It is adding up all the mails from every client you use. This includes Microsoft messenger, yahoo messenger etc etc. The problem is, that it often doesn't differentiate between read and unread messages, hence the incorrect count.
Sometimes you can correct this by changing the security access level of each client you use, but this can be a tad dangerous. Most people actually turn it off (in disgust) as they cant get it to work right. Nice idea, but poorly implemented.
Here's a link on how to turn it off and save you some hassle:

Hope this helps,
Martin
